Gianni Infantino has been re-elected as the president of FIFA until 2027, without any opposition, at the governing body's congress held on Thursday. The 52-year-old Swiss lawyer took over from the disgraced Sepp Blatter in 2016 and was unanimously elected for a third term by the delegates representing the 211 member federations, just as he was four years ago. Addressing the delegates in the Rwandan capital, Infantino expressed his love and gratitude to both his supporters and detractors, acknowledging that there are few who dislike him. Notably, the voting system did not record the number of dissenting voices.
